I chose to read the book through a psychoanalytical lense. This makes me look for why a character acts a certain way. What makes Humbert Humbert like young girls? Why doesn't Hester Prynne say who the father is? I will be reading Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov and The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. My goal over these next few weeks is to figure out why these character behave the way they do? Was it a childhood experience? Who knows, but let's find out.
